Life is boring?
Looking back through the pages of history textbooks, one can find many, many pictures of the toils and sweat of our 'forefathers'. They say our state of living has improved over the years, but has it? Those sceptics have said life is mundane; it has veered for the worse since times when people would lives in small villages. Why?
Now, the average man wakes up on an average day, and proceeds into a mindless routine: brush up, eat breakfast, go to work, go to lunch, and then back to work for the rest of the day until sundown. Then, they proceed home to shower and have dinner. Finally, they go to bed to prepare for almost the exact same day tomorrow. And for the working hours, most average man would be staring at a computer screen, churning out walls after walls of texts. Now that sounds pretty boring i say.
But what exactly makes it so different from those from the past? Some say that in ancient times, you do a variety of stuff. Today, you might be hunting wild beasts, and tomorrow, you might be swimming in the rivers for salmons. Another day comes and you might find yourself more than enough time to gaze up at the stars on a clear sky.
In today's time, you might not go facing off giant mammoths, nor will you splash in rivers after fishes you'll be having for dinner. However, you could be an explorer, you could be a king, you could even be an alien, in what technology has brought us as something called games. Those experiences are fake, yes. But ultimately, this is what we had sacrificed for comfort. Maybe not all of us, but most.
Those lovely freedom you get in ancient times? That, too, we had sacrificed. But think again, weren't the lives of ancient people very much a routine too? Sure, they had a variety of things to do, instead of just keeping a job that makes you do the same thing everyday, but thinking of it, these two are actually one and the same. Having a job just means specialisation, instead of doing a veriety of things all by yourself. If you really wanted to swim in a river, by all means fly to some distant lands with clear springs and flowing rivers. I'd be contented with my swimming pool 5 minutes away. That is what we exchange for convinience.
And what about those free time they had? Well, every night, instead of busying yourself with new games or television shows, take a stroll in the park, and you might just find out how beautifully relaxed life is.
I find that too many people are too busy nowadays, to just lay back and slow down their pace of life. How does it feel like to lay down on the ground after a hard game of basketball, and to see the stars rush up to meet you? That is the time when you realise how deep everything is. I find that excitement in this boring routine is not about large adventures, but instead, it is the little things that make life great. Take a walk; breathe in deep; snuggle up onto your loved ones, and just pause to enjoy life. That's when life's interesting.

My great essay on democracy.
Democracy creates stability in a society.
There are important factors leading to the stability of a society. The most important factors are social, economic and political stability. The most important criterion for a stable society is the social stability, because the people must settle down a peaceful living before they can work on to larger things and bring an increase in economics, and also that democracy affects mostly the social aspect of a society, whereby the people are able to directly choose their leaders.
I agree that democracy creates stability in a society to a large extent.
Firstly, the government is made up of leaders the majority of the people voted for. This would lead to lesser uprising or riots, because the government would have the support of the people, and govern the country accordingly. The people would decide who run the country, and also have a say in government policies.
Secondly, a truly democratic state gives equal power to all members of the society. This creates fairness and no man is better than the other. Prejudice is therefore not practiced. A consequence of this is that no one reigns over another and everyone is seen as equals. This serves to deny a formation of distinct social classes.
Thirdly, when all members enjoy their own freedom and rights, the population would be happy and rebels would be kept to a minimum.
However, democracy might not create any, if not reduce stability in some cases.
An example would be when the democracy has a lack of a responsible government. It is then possible for the rights of the minority to be abused by the majority. This would lead to segregation between the two groups, with the majority being the ‘tyrant’ and the minority being forced to obey the majority.
Sometimes, the minority might be made up of also a large number of people. For example, in Sri Lanka, the Sinhalese are the majority. However, there is still a large population of Tamils, who are forced to obey policies that cater for Sinhalese due to the larger Sinhalese population. There still might be a high chance of a revolt if the minority felt that they are being neglected.
Even so if there exists such a rule as ‘majority wins’ in democracy, we must consider that there will be unsatisfied people in all rules of government. Democracy in its core is actually utilitarianism, whereby decisions are made with the greatest amount of good for the greatest number of people in mind. This is always better than other forms of government, when some decisions bring about very little satisfaction and support from the public.
Thus, democracy is actually a step ahead of other types of government in bringing satisfaction to the most number of people, which in turn leads to stability within the country.
Therefore, in the social aspect of stability, I conclude that democracy does bring about stability to a society to a large extent.

Hello, darling. Where were you last night?
In this article, we see an example of cheating gone too far.
Carol is just another normal woman among millions in Singapore. Having a career, caring for her kids, loving her husband and doing household chores are all part and parcel of every woman's life.
But instead of living happily as a family, her husband decided that he needed a little thrill. He went on to marry a woman all the way in China and thinking that 2 woman isn't enough, continued to have another girlfriend in Singapore.
Can anyone say, horny guy?
I feel truly sorry for Carol. It must have been horrible, looking at videos of your husband having explicit sex with a woman you never knew existed. Sharing food with another woman is one thing, but sharing husband is another.
This cases of cheating your spouse is not uncommon. Every now and then, you hear of people divorcing. But divorcing because two people are not compatible is a lot different from having another marriage outside your marriage.
But the question remains: why are there so many cases of cheating husbands, and even cheating wifes?
I feel that it mostly lies with the moral values of the person. To go around sleeping with many women, and leave the one that truly cares for you at home, is unacceptable to many men. Almost all men knows that it is wrong to sleep with many women, but they still flirt around. Why? These men usually have little or no self control, and succumb easily to desires of the flesh.
But the fault does not always lie with the men. Sometimes, they find faults in the wifes. Being domineering, uncaring, grumpy all add on to the stress men handle in the work. How would it feel to have worked an entire day and coming home, only to share the rest of the night with someone resembling an angry elephant. Who likes that? These men finally turn to finding another women for something a little more exciting than sharing a bed with an angry elephant.
When a couple has been married for 5 years, it gets boring and their everyday life forms a mundane routine. No more sneaky presents on valentine's day, cuddly movies in a cinema on weekends, but just eat, sleep and work.
And everyone likes new stuff. And when the old gets boring, they find something new. And in this case, someone new to sleep with. To me, the thrill isn't worth the love and happiness in a perfect family.
I feel that a couple is meant to be married for life. Not 1 year, not 5 years, not 10 years, but for their entire life. From those cases we saw what can a moment of folly do to your family. When you only has a single, most important woman in your life, all of your attention, love, and care will go to her. Unlike when you have a different woman in your bed every night.
Show true love to those who really care about you today.
